The biggest nationwide
political drama has begun to unfold and the prime source of entertainment for
aam janata now is elections . Everyone has a opinion about everything that is
politics in India !!!.The common man never misses to amaze you with
his analysis and this is one favorite past time for the
entire Indians , be it urban or rural , poor or rich , men
or woman , young and old , the kumbh mela
of Indian politics is here !!!!!!!!!! , i would also call it festival
of expression and democracy . The sheer depth of engagement common
man engages shows us that we are a surging and engaging democracy .I love
to see how common man shows that they have a stake in making and unmaking
leaders !!.
I am
amazed @ the energy & drive of our political class irrespective of their
party affiliations , election time is their prime time of their careers and
plenty of leaders emerge and few fade out of limelight permanently. The
Clock has started ticking and the draggers are out , this season of vote
mongering is the dirtiest i have seen in the last 20 pus years .
Bangalore
south is undoubtedly one of the most watched and contested lok sabha
seats in the entire south India . For the last six terms this seat
has been held tight by BJP and congress has won only once in 1989 in the
last 35 years !!. Looks like the incumbent Ananth Kumar is lucky man and
has been blessed with time and circumstances on his side all these years , in
2009 he almost lost and managed to win by a slender margin .
I would call
Bangalore south the idly vada dosa capital of Karnataka and is a
rainbow of cultures and languages although in true sense this is the
biggest kannadiga seat among the three seats in bangalore . This has been
a melting pot and a favorate place to build their life and career for Tamils ,
Telugu , Malayalees , marwari , sindhi , gujaratis , punjabis , minorities and
off course the native kannadigas .
The biggest
surprise was Nandan throwing his hat into the ring although there
were rumors about his candidature . I always thought he would
prefer the Rajya sabha route but he did make up his mind to take on ananth
kumar . I believe there were not many senior or strong congress leaders
from Bangalore south who were keen to contest . Last time
Krishna Byre Gowda was brought in the last minute and he did really
gave a tough time and ananth finally romped home huffing and puffing .
Nandan
challenging ananth kumar has brought in a disruption among the core voters of
BJP itself . I have sensed a huge disillusion with ananth kumar among large
devoted voters of BJP and they openly express it . Nandan is likely
to dig big into the core votes of BJP this time , 1989 lok sabha
elections ex CM gundu rao was able to get a huge chunk of
Janata votes in 1989 and won with a big margin . I see a similar
trend this time as ananth kumar was never challenged by anyone who
would disrupt his core votes !!!.
Prior to
2009 lok sabha elections , the bangalore south constituency was
relatively favoring BJP and their real challenge was 2009 where BJP
scrapped through . Ananth Kumar is fighting his biggest battle with virtually
nothing except "Modi Wave" .
Ananth has
been banking on Ram mandir issue in 1996 and 1998 , vajapayee factor in
1999 and 2004 and the sitting BJP government and five MLAs helped him romp
home last time . This time his one and only mantra has been NAMO , he is
finding the going tough as people are asking his key contributions in the
last 18 years as MP , Union Minister for tourism and civil aviation ,
State President and a powerful leader . If you really measure his
contribution to the city , it is sheer disappointment all the way .
As we move
forward i see a distinct trend emerging in favour of Nandan , in the initial
reaction few said he is the right man in wrong party , i believe they would
finally take his side . In particular working and career professionals
are keen to see someone like nandan represent them . The sheer scale and
complex project like Aadhar was made successful by nandan and his team . I
would personally vote for him and want to see him in parliament for what he
represents today and he is a role model for the entire aspiring
young India .
Good
politics can only come with good people coming into mainstream politics keeping
the rotten elements away .You cannot change the system with bad
people , need for people with high integrity , service motive and ability
to bring in imaginative solutions to our issues are the need of the hour . I
wish good people contest from all political establishments so that a sea change
in the quality of the politics can be brought in.
I believe
people would always vote for a individual who has built success for
the society and people at large . Nandan is
a exemplary example of what an ordinary educated , motivated individual can
build successful where lakhs of educated youngsters are given a platform to
build a decent quality of life with dignity .
I sincerely
believe this could be our opportunity time to look forward and bring in that
"change" Bangalore south has been waiting for !!!.
